Welcome to fundraising! The PAOC Board is constantly looking for ways to supplement our budget thru fundraising efforts that take place throughout the year. While RISD supports the primary functions of the orchestra program, a large portion of our operating expenses comes from annual fees as well as fundraising efforts. All monies raised are used for needed items and programs that directly impact each and every student in orchestra.
There are 2 types of fundraising efforts that we provide: ones that benefit the organization as a whole, and ones that directly impact student ledgers.
PAOC FUNDRAISING
PAOC fundraising efforts take place throughout the year. We try to focus on our events to be meaningful with a clear outcome and a desired goal. Monies raised are used for such things as clinics, recordings, scholarships, instrument rentals, trip expenses, end-of-year banquet and much more!

SCRIP
SCRIP is a popular “shopping cart fundraiser” where you purchase gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash for everyday purchases that you would make anyway. With every purchase, you earn revenue towards your student’s ledger! It’s that easy!
CHOCOLATE
By participating in this optional activity, you may earn scholarship credit towards your/your child’s ledger and offset fees and/or trip costs. Here is an overview of how it works:
Check out a box(es)–up to two may be out at a time–BEFORE or AFTER school (you’ll see the chocolate show up on your ledger)
Sell the bars inside for $1/each–NEVER in school (prohibited by State Law)
Turn in the money to the orchestra safe (NO COINS)
The treasurer receives your payment, the chocolate cost is removed and the scholarship amount is applied ($30/box)
Repeat above steps as many times as you like. There is no due date; we sell until the product is gone.
We will go over the specifics in class but here are a few other things to remember:
Cash/check (to PAOC) only accepted as payment for chocolate
NO coins ever please; the bank charges us to deposit change.
If chocolate is lost/stolen you still owe the value of the box ($30) to PAOC so be vigilant!
Be sure to put your name on your deposit envelope!
Never sell during the school day–this is prohibited by state law.
You MAY sell to adults at any time and you should take your chocolate with you everywhere, including outside school and church events.
If you still have questions please let Mrs. Livings know. Happy selling!
